Email management improvements and out of office reminder

Email management improvements and out of office reminder

When you delete items from your inbox or other folders these are moved to  the Deleted Items folder.

To ensure that Outlook continues to work as efficiently as possible, items will soon be automatically removed from the Deleted Items folder after three days. They will be held in a recoverable items store for a further 180 days before they are permanently deleted.

These changes will come into effect from Thursday 23 April, with the first of your deleted items being moved to the recoverable storage at the weekend. There is guidance on how to recover items on  the Microsoft Outlook pages in the Restoring and Recovering section.

Please also remember that if you are going to be out of contact – on annual leave or for work-related reasons – you will want to let people know that you can’t respond to their emails. Please include the dates of your planned period of leave in your out of office message as the dates during which you select the replies to go will not automatically be available to those contacting you.

You can find guidance on setting out of office (auto reply) and other Outlook topics on the Microsoft pages.
