Forensic fact will meet forensic fiction with Scottish queen of crime, Lin Anderson and forensic scientist Professor Lorna Dawson. A local ‘whydunnit’ case will be presented by Aberdeen & Aberdeenshire Archives, and a murder mystery tea party will be led by best-selling author Ann Cleeves, creator of ‘Vera’ as seen on TV.

Crime writers Sara Sheridan and James Oswald will also be invited to talk about their books and their lives as writers. Young people’s author Cathy MacPhail will visit and talk to secondary school pupils from Alford and Aboyne, although this event will not be open to the public.

Some grisly and gruesome storytelling courtesy of the Grampian Association of Storytellers will take place at libraries in Banchory and Huntly. In addition, there will be crime writing workshops with local author Bill Kirton, film events, mystery quizzes and Cluedo.

All events are free. Booking is advised and can be done by contacting libraries locally.

The events are primarily aimed at adults and young adults and may not be suitable for younger members of the family.
