Article Body:

The council has an ongoing issue with the overfilling of confidential waste containers which means that paperwork can potentially be removed and read.

Please remember:

  • You need to use the confidential waste container if paperwork contains information which could identify individuals or could cause harm or distress if disclosed to unauthorised persons.
  • If the secure confidential waste container is full, you must find another in your building.
  • Do not use any unofficial containers for temporary storage of confidential waste.
  • If you are unsure whether information is confidential or not please dispose of it as confidential waste.
  • Please contact facilities if your confidential waste container is full, or if you have any other types of media that need destroyed e.g. microfiche, old USB drives, CDs, DVDs etc.
