Training places have become available for enthusiastic volunteers to become Cycle Ride Leaders. The Cycle Ride Leader qualification is designed to empower individuals to lead groups of less experienced cyclists to help them improve their confidence on two wheels.

Cycling Scotland, in partnership with the NHS, have been able to offer the training to council employees through the Cycle Friendly Employers scheme.

There are eight places available on the training course, which is scheduled for Friday 17 March 2017. The training course will last the whole day and will be held at Woodhill House.

Ideally, the Transportation team is looking for a cross section of people from across all of the council’s six different areas in addition to people from Woodhill House. This will increase the opportunities for everyone to benefit from the training.

If you are interested, please contact Anthony Robertson (anthony.robertson@aberdeenshire.gov.uk) by Friday 27 January, stating:

– Where you normally work
– How much time you would be able to commit to training others. Keep in mind this will be on an informal, voluntary basis and will be outside of your normal duties! Support will be available from Cycling Scotland however once you have completed the training course.
– Where and when you would be able to lead rides.
– Some possible routes around the workplace of a mile or less. This can be at your normal workplace and / or any others you would be willing to travel to.
– When you would be able to lead rides, eg at lunchtime, after work, weekdays / weekends, etc?
– Suggested dates between April to July 2017 you would be able to do this.
