Chloe was presented with the award by Chief Executive Jim Savege during a ceremony at Woodhill House this week. Chloe was commended for her hard work and commitment at Ythanvale Care Home, alongside runners up Dylan Tocher, an apprentice plasterer, and Jordan Craig who is an apprentice within ICT.

Chloe told us: “Personally for me, it has been the best thing I have done career wise as it has got me onto a path which is suited to me and I have been given loads of support and guidance throughout.”

Chloe’s line manager at Ythanvale, Jenna Adams added, “Chloe’s enthusiasm for learning is apparent and this allows opportunities to share experiences and best practice. I think if a post was to become available after the apprenticeship ends, then Chloe would give serious consideration to staying on.”

Speaking at the event, Chief Executive Jim Savege said: “We currently employ 50 apprentices across the organisation. I would like to see this figure grow substantially, and my challenge to all services is to take steps to significantly increase the number of apprentices. HR&OD will be on hand to support you with this, and I would encourage you to contact them for further information.”

Laura Simpson, Head of Service (HR&OD) also spoke at the event, commenting: “Over the next 12 months, in partnership with all services, we will be looking to identify and create many more apprenticeship opportunities. This not only makes sense from an organisational perspective, but it is also vital that we lead the way in creating high quality training and job opportunities for the young people of Aberdeenshire.”
