Maybe you like keeping up with the latest developments in technology? We might have something to interest you!

Would you like to borrow an electric bicycle – for free – for up to a month?

Come and find out more at Woodhill House reception on Friday 10 March, from 12noon to 2pm. The Transport Strategy Team will have a couple of electric bikes on display for you to have a closer look at and even take a test ride.

Electric bikes (e-bikes) work much the same as ordinary bicycles except they have an electric motor which is activated when you pedal to give a bit of a boost, making going uphill a lot easier!

You don’t need a special license to ride one (as long as you are over the age of 14) and the bikes can be used on cycle paths the same as ordinary bicycles.

We have four commuter-style e-bikes available for Aberdeenshire Council staff to use. You can borrow one for up to a month completely free of charge; for riding to work, for business trips or even for leisure trips.

Each bike is supplied with pannier bags, a lock and battery charger. When you sign up to the loan we will even give you a £30 voucher for Edinburgh Bicycle Co-operative so you can buy a helmet!

The only condition is that you complete a travel diary for the loan period to let us know how you are using the bike.

You might also be interested in participating in the Sustrans Scottish Workplace Journey Challenge (https://scotland.getmeactive.org.uk/). Record your trips and you could be in with a chance of winning a prize! This runs for the entire month of March and is open to everyone, so those walking, car-sharing and using public transport are also welcome to take part![

If you are interested in borrowing a bike, please come to Woodhill House reception at lunchtime on 10March, or contact Anthony Robertson (Anthony.Robertson@aberdeenshire.gov.uk) for more details.
