2017 is the Year of History, Heritage and Archaeology and there are lots of events taking place this summer to celebrate. From Bronze Age hut circles to 20th century plane crashes, there’s plenty to discover in Aberdeenshire. Leave your hi-tec, digital life behind for a few hours and discover how our ancestors survived in the past. Take a walk through time, discover history on your doorstep or simply enjoy a family day out. Whatever your age, interest or ability there’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer.

Events are happening from mountain to sea – the Rangers are taking part in the Cairngorms Nature Big Weekend and the Energetica Summer Festival again this year, delivering a range of activities from getting up close and personal with bats and moths, to cliff top walks and seabird watches.

2017 is also the 20th anniversary of Scottish Biodiversity Partnerships. Join the Rangers on walks and events to find out about the variety of life on our doorstep, how our local plants and animals benefit us and how we can help them. You can support our local environment and wildlife by taking part in a beach clean and litter survey, or find out how to help our local pollinators.

There are also lots of event happening at the Bennachie Visitor Centre over the summer – the Centre opens on the 1st April and is open seven days a week 10:00am – 5:00pm.
