From advert to EMIS form - your Core Recruitment Team is now up and running!

Following a restructure and from March 3, the council’s recruitment needs are now delivered by one core team. The recruitment needs of all managers across the council, including the ordering of agency staff, should be directed to the Core Recruitment Team by calling (01224) 664455 or emailing recruitment.team@aberdeenshire.gov.uk

If you have already begun an appointments process, please carry on with arrangements, but from today you will no longer need to create vacancies yourself.

Kay Hopwood, HR Team Leader for Recruitment, explained: “The new core team can provide recruiting managers with dedicated recruitment staff, consistent advice and a high level of support.

“We’ve already undertaken work to remove duplication in processes including disclosure and reference checking, and this will reduce the time it takes to recruit new staff. There will be ongoing improvements to the way recruitment is carried out and our key objectives as a team are to be easily contacted and consistent across the board.”

There are a variety of benefits arising from the new arrangements, including:

Vacancies can be advertised by contacting the Core Recruitment Team who will support managers throughout the process and reduce the amount of time managers have to spend on this.

There are options to reduce or eliminate time spent on low level decision making such as checking references and disclosure certificates as the team can do this for you.

·

The Core Recruitment Team is working to a new performance framework focused on optimising the time it takes to recruit new staff and reducing associated candidate drop-out rates.

Details of suitable interviewed candidates can be retained as a talent pool for future jobs, reducing the need to re-advertise.

·

Managers who didn’t previously have access to support for recruitment administration now have access to an end-to-end service.

·

All ordering of agency workers is now handled by the Core Recruitment Team.

All vacancies should be filled by contacting the Core Recruitment Team, including the ordering of agency workers. Please note that services will continue to have responsibility for ensuring all new starts are provided with a service induction and make arrangements to enable their new employee to get off to a flying start.
