Aberdeenshire youngsters strike gold!

Introductory sentence: Congratulations to the seventeen youngsters who secured Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards at Holyrood Palace, Edinburgh.

The Duke of Edinburgh Gold Award is the highest achievement in the award scheme and, each year, a presentation is organised for those who have completed it to collect their certificates and highly sought after gold badges.

The seventeen Aberdeenshire council youngsters were joined by parents and three adult volunteers from Bettridge Centre and Peterhead as they headed for Edinburgh on July 6. Two of the Aberdeenshire team, Lynn Hutchison and Sandra Murdoch, also attended, volunteering as marshals to assist with the event.

Well done to all, and all other Aberdeenshire Council young people who achieved Duke of Edinburgh bronze, silver and gold awards this year. And a huge thank you to all volunteers who gave their free time to allow young people across the shire to benefit from this outstanding programme.
