New versions of Microsoft Office to be installed soon

Employees will soon receive an upgrade to a newer version of Microsoft Office which includes more up to date versions of products such as Word and Excel.

For the majority of users, this will mean that Office 2013 will be installed onto your computer. Users of older versions of Windows (Microsoft XP) and those who use business systems such as TRIM will be upgraded to Office 2010 initially and when Windows and business systems are upgraded (in the coming months) they will then be upgraded to Office 2013.

ICT and a group of over 100 business users from across all services have been successfully piloting Office 2013 and Office 2010 since the start of this year. The Learning and Development team has prepared a range of materials on ALDO

to support you through this upgrade. Click on Moving from Microsoft Office 2003 to 2013

within ALDO.

The timeline for these changes is as follows: Beginning from week starting April 21Those not receiving Microsoft Office 2013 will be able to self-install Office 2010

and will receive an email to advise. If you have not downloaded it by May 1, this will occur automatically thereafter.Beginning from week starting April 28Office 2013 will be available for self-install for all other corporate users by using instructions now available on Arcadia. If you do not receive an email detailing the Office 2010 option then this will apply to you. If you have not carried out the download by May 8, this will occur automatically thereafter.

Downloading the new Microsoft Office package is a very simple process but may take a few hours, during which time you will be able to continue working as normal. If you need to switch your computer off at any point, you can do so and the download will continue when you restart your computer.
