Aberdeenshire Council tees off to success

Representatives from Aberdeenshire Council put on an impressive showing at the Scottish Open Pro Am alongside professional golfer Marc Warren, swinging their way to victory at the event at Royal Aberdeen Golf Links on Wednesday 9 July.

Councillor Katrina Farquhar, Planning Manager Bruce Stewart and a representative from ClubGolf, regional manager Lesley Nicholson defeated 25 other Pro Am teams securing victory for ‘Team Warren’ with a score of 15 under par.

Cllr Farquhar said: “The experience was fantastic and I enjoyed every minute of it. Marc Warren was really good fun and said he enjoyed the pro-am! It’s just a pity he didn’t win on Sunday!

“The best bit of the day for me after the whole experience was a net birdie on our first hole I was thrilled then Lesley had an eagle and Bruce finished off the round with an eagle! So all in all a really positive experience.

“The event helps promote Aberdeenshire as a great place to visit and play golf in. I have now been involved with various golf events and was really surprised to find many golfers visiting Scotland never think of coming to Aberdeenshire so we have to sell the area to attract these visitors. This also includes other attractions for the non-golfers!”

The event raised over £35,000 for the ARCHIE Foundation, the Official Charity of the Aberdeen Asset Management Scottish Open, with the Pros donating their fees for the event and nine of the world’s top golfers donning tartan trews, sponsored by Aberdeen Asset Management.
