Chief Executive announces retirement

Colin Mackenzie has today (Monday, September 1) announced his decision to retire from the post of Chief Executive.

He said: “Over the last six years, Aberdeenshire Council has gone from strength to strength, with positive reports from Audit Scotland and the various inspectorates, a robust financial position, and an excellent reputation locally and nationally.

“I believe that now is the right time for someone else to lead and shape the council as it moves into the challenging phase of continuing to deliver excellent local services within a new era of significant financial constraint. I am very confident that we are in an excellent position to manage these challenges positively.

“It has been a privilege to have served this Council since its inception in 1996 and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you all for your support.”

The recruitment process for a new Chief Executive will begin immediately. Colin expects to remain as Chief Executive at the council until an appointment is confirmed.
