Team Aberdeenshire’s sterling effort during the Independence Referendum

Now that the dust has settled I want to personally thank each and every member of council staff who were involved with the Independence Referendum count last week. 700 employees were manning polling stations across Aberdeenshire throughout the day and a further 300 were involved with the actual count.

It was an historic night for Scotland and it was incredible to see Aberdeenshire’s turnout reflect the rest of the country’s with a voter turnout of 180,045, 87.2% of a total registered Aberdeenshire electorate of 206,487.

The dedication of Team Aberdeenshire on the day of the referendum and the night of the count is commendable and it is thanks to their diligence and enthusiasm that the event was such a success.
