Giving Aberdeenshire pupils the Creative Edge on their CV

Did you know that the creative industries in the North-east generates annual revenues in excess of over £600 million? Did you also know that the creative industries employs 6,000 people over 1,550 businesses in the North-east?

It is with this in mind that Aberdeenshire Council is running the Creative Edge pilot scheme in four of our academies: Banff, Fraserburgh, Peterhead and Turriff. The project aims to raise awareness among our teenagers of the thirteen recognised creative industries and aid them in acquiring and developing creative skills.

I attended the Creative Edge Celebratory Showcase in Fraserburgh last week, exhibiting the creative achievements of the 80 pupils who took part. It is always encouraging to see Aberdeenshire’s young people engaging so passionately, and with the creative sector across Scotland growing, it is vital to provide our pupils with the support and facilities to develop the skills required by these industries.
