If so, there’s an exciting opportunity to join the Council’s Election Team to support the planning and delivery of this year’s Local Government Elections in May.  As an Assistant Constituency Election Officer, your role would be to help lead the local election team within the Banff and Buchan constituency area.

This opportunity:

  • is not a full time job, but instead is a role which usually runs alongside your post within the Council.
  • will necessitate undertaking election duties during normal work hours, especially in the weeks prior to the election. 
  • is likely to require occasional evening or weekend working (e.g. at training events, counts etc) and attendance at other election-related meetings which may arise.
  • will frequently work out of the constituency base in Banff during the period immediately prior to the elections.

You will:

  • need to be flexible in approach, adaptable and capable of managing the workload as in the period immediately prior to the elections, you will likely spend a significant proportion of your core hours fulfilling essential election duties.
  • receive remuneration in addition to the salary for your substantive post. This is normally through the payment of a fee after a major election has taken place

Due to the nature of the role you must have the full support of your line manager and Service before applying.
