Updating Aberdeenshire website content

Article Body:

The content of the Aberdeenshire Council website is updated and edited by a small team of User Experience (UX) experts .

Having a centralised team with editorial control ensures consistent quality across the corporate website, making it easier for users to find the information and services they need.

To avoid unnecessary delay in progressing requested work, please note:

  • The council website should only be used for sharing documents where the public are the intended audience and there is wide interest in viewing the information (Information for staff should be held on Arcadia and content for councillors should be stored on Ward Pages)
  • Documents that “must be made available to the public” do not necessarily have to be held on the website – the UX team can advise on alternative options e.g. a document repository is being created to hold standalone documents
  • If you are including a link to a website address in a publication, speak to the UX team about creating a short code rather than including a long version
  • Services must liaise with the UX team before issuing communications advising where documents are going to be held

Check out the help section on Arcadia for more information and to view the process for requesting updates.

The UX team also reviews existing content with a view to introducing improvements.  The next sections to be looked at will be:

  • Leisure, sports and culture
  • Schools and learning
  • Planning and building
  • Bins and recycling
