The Transportation Strategy Development Team have four electric bikes funded by Smarter Choices, Smarter Places, which is a fund supported by Transport Scotland to encourage less car use and more active and/or sustainable transport. The e-bikes were previously loaned out to staff on a 4-weekly basis. To encourage more staff to try out cycling and reduce the amount of administration the scheme required, the structure of the scheme has changed to a model more likened to a ‘pool bike’.
The bikes are now available to book out for business, personal or commuting use, bookable from 30 minutes up to 1 week. This means you can book one to use on your lunch break, as transport for a meeting, or to take home for a few nights and try out commuting by bike.
They are available for all Council staff, as long as you can get yourself to either Woodhill House, Buchan House, Gordon House or Banchory Social Work Office. For more info on how to book, click this link from a Council device, or contact us at transportationstrategy@aberdeenshire.gov.uk.
